Are Theme Park Rides Tolerable for Pregnant Women?

Lots of people, both young and old alike are really fascinated with the beauty and excitement in various theme parks established around the world. Holidays and summer times are probably the most essential time to go these places since people will be riding on roller coasters and other exciting rides.

But considering the case pf pregnant women, can they also enjoy the exciting features of the theme parks?

Unfortunately, there are prohibited rides that pregnant women must consider. Even selective theme parks like Disney, Six Flags, and Busch Gardens including some of our own local theme parks are posting warning signs to particular rides that excludes pregnant women. So far, there hasn’t been any study that records a problem with certain theme park rides for pregnant women; yet there isn’t any study that also documents that it is safe either.

According to American Pregnancy Association, “the concern with roller coasters, thrill rides, and virtual rides during pregnancy is associated with the rapid starts and stops, the jarring forces, and the pressures against the body that occur during these types of rides. This rigorous activity creates additional jarring forces within the uterus that may lead to premature separation of the placenta from the wall of the uterus, which is called placental abruption.”

Also, a jarring force that usually occurs in theme park rides can cause miscarriage and other complications for pregnant women. Even if it is lesser compared to slow automobile mishaps, pregnant women should not take the risk.

So if you are a pregnant woman who really wants to go for a theme park ride, always consider your situation. Besides, prevention is better than cure, so it is recommended that you will just enjoy these rides after delivering your baby.
